Cakette Bakeshop isn’t your average bakery. We’re a tiny team baking big love just three days a week in the heart of Park Circle, North Charleston. We specialize in small-batch baked goods that shift with our whims and the seasons, and our shop doubles as a thoughtfully curated haven of weird, wonderful, and beautiful things made by women-owned micro brands, artists, and creatives we adore.
At our core, we’re part bakery, part community clubhouse, and part creative experiment, all grounded in a whole lot of heart. Because honestly, what could be better than a neighborhood hub where you can grab a sweet treat, sip a great coffee, and indulge in a little retail therapy?
Cakette Bakeshop began organically, taking shape during late nights and nap times in our home kitchen while I was on maternity leave. What started as a few birthday cakes for friends slowly grew into a small pop-up at local events, and eventually into what Cakette is today.
From the beginning, this bakery has been about more than sweets. It’s about creating something meaningful from where you are, with what you have. For me, that meant building a business while navigating new motherhood. As a baker, chef, and mother, I lead with the same instincts I bring to parenting: care, adaptability, intuition, and presence. These qualities, often undervalued in traditional kitchen culture, are, I believe, essential to building creative, resilient, and sustainable spaces.
Cakette exists in part to make maternal leadership visible within the independent restaurant industry. I want other women, especially mothers, to know that their dreams don’t have to be paused to raise a family. You can create, lead, and grow on your own terms. There is no single path to success, and I hope women see themselves reflected in mine, not in spite of motherhood, but because of it.
That vision extends beyond the kitchen. We proudly feature products by women creatives, from beautifully designed stationary to handmade ceramics, because we believe in cultivating an ecosystem where women support women. When you step into Cakette, you’re not just buying a pastry; you’re entering a community rooted in intention, collaboration, and care.
At its heart, Cakette is an expression of love and connection. Everything we do, from how we bake to how we welcome people into our space, is meant to nourish both body and spirit.
